Unrestricted writer Sofia Ghassaei recently premiered her brilliant debut play, Love Letters – A True-ly Short Epistolary Romance. It is gloriously filled with song, sincerity, struggle, and spelling.
Two autistic nonspeakers, Melody and Luke, fall in love via email, only to struggle with sensory realities when they meet in person. "Love Letters – A True-Ly Short Epistolary Romance" is a musical by and about autistic nonspeakers. It is also a universal story of first love - found and lost – and of expectations not matching reality. Written by Sofia Ghassaei, and augmented with additional lyrics by Caden Rainey, Damon Kirsebom Danny Whitty, Elizabeth Bonker, Imane Boukaila, Tyler Mason, Wyatt Dutton and Zac Duncan, Love Letters was produced and recorded with a professional cast by Theater of Possibility in Seattle, WA, July 2023.
It is now streaming on YouTube and we invite you to check out both the play itself and a panel of nonspeakers that accompanied its live presentation and begins at the 1:11 mark.
