Imaginary World
Saysha Pointer’s remarkable imagination is only matched by her soaring ambition. She identifies not simply as a poet, but as the creative director of Saysha Studios. And her ambitions are being met by a world that is thirsty for neurodivergent voices, especially women of color. When I sent a suite of poems from Unrestricted writers to Julia Miele Rodas, one of the world’s foremost scholars on literature and autism, she singled out Saysha’s poem “Imaginary World.”
Originally inspired by a poem from Julien Poirier, Saysha’s version builds a space for silence and then sets it ringing. If you are ever in need of color or mermaids or ways to feel rich (like “floating with an octopus” or “never taking out the trash again”), look no further than Saysha’s first chapbook, A Unique, Uplifting and Utterly Happy Unicorn. And when you buy it, she receives royalties that are twice the industry standard!
From the Imaginary Cave,
